The one with... Pluto's Halloween Costume

Pluto is going to dress up for Halloween this year!  I had been looking online for a costume for him and found this dinosaur costume on Amazon.com:   

The only problem with that costume is that it has sleeves, which I knew Pluto would not like.  So I came up with the idea to make Pluto a dinosaur costume.  He has a hoodie that we got from Petco in blue that fits him pretty well.  So I went to the fabric store to get green fleece, felt squares in brown, dark green, and white.  

First I traced the blue hoodie on paper to make a pattern.  

Then using the pattern, I cut out the green fleece. 

 I used black and green felt to make the "spikes" for the costume. 

When my pattern paper fell on the ground Pluto kept it from blowing away by laying on it.  What a great little helper!  

Thankfully the fleece fabric is pretty forgiving and fairly easy to work with.  Probably the hardest part was trying to make sure I had the velcro in the right place to fit Pluto.  Dave helped by keeping Pluto distracted with treats so that I could measure him.   After a few hours of cutting and sewing, I was finally done!

And here is Pluto modeling his dinosaur costume!  Other than the hood, he seemed to be pretty comfortable in it and actually stayed in it for a while.  Now he's all ready for the neighborhood Halloween parade and to greet the trick or treaters that come to the door!
